Legal and Safety

PaceOut helps families make screen-time expectations visible. These boundaries explain how to use it responsibly and where to report a concern.

A shared family tool

PaceOut is designed for an adult and child to understand the next screen-time transition together. It is not covert surveillance, a punishment system, an emergency service or medical care.

Explain the plan

Tell the child what the pace plan does, what the parent can see and how requests work.

Use the least intrusive setting

Choose only the categories, warnings and controls the household actually needs.

Keep a human check

Notifications and device controls are prompts. Adults remain responsible for supervision and safeguarding.

Report concerns

Contact the legal and privacy team about safety, privacy, security or child-facing concerns.

1. What the family relationship means

The parent account holder sets the pace plan and may see family status, remaining allowance, pace state and time requests. The child-facing experience is intended to make the plan understandable before a boundary is reached. Check the current app screen and Apple permissions before relying on a specific display.

2. Important limits

PaceOut is not an emergency alert, safeguarding system, medical device, mental-health service or substitute for adult supervision. Apple permissions, device settings, connectivity, operating-system behavior and account state can affect timing or synchronisation. Do not rely on PaceOut alone where immediate action or professional help is needed.

Do not use PaceOut to monitor another person without the authority and consent required by law. Keep pairing invitations private and remove access when a family relationship ends.

3. Privacy and child-facing information

Read the Privacy Policy for the data-flow detail. In the current app architecture, exact Screen Time selections, app names and browsing data remain on the device rather than being sent to our CloudKit records or analytics. Family profiles, pace plans, status, messages and requests may be shared through Apple CloudKit so the family features can work.

For children: your parent may see the pace plan, family status and requests you send. If you are worried about what the app shows or shares, speak to your parent or another trusted adult. You can also contact legal@getpaceout.com.

4. Report a legal, privacy or safety concern

Email legal@getpaceout.com with the page, app surface or family-flow step involved and a description of the concern. Please do not include a child's name, screenshots containing private information, Screen Time selections or other unnecessary personal data.

For ordinary product help, use Support or support@getpaceout.com. For account deletion or a privacy rights request, use the contact process in the Privacy Policy.
